Please be alerted that we have recently observed ransomware transmitted through emails. Ransomware are malicious programs that encrypt your computer’s hard disk, then asks for money for the decryption key.

All emails through the email system of Netfront are scanned for spam and viruses. Those detected viruses/spams will be dropped to the spam email boxes and removed permanently after 90 days. However, as the spam/virus problem is a hide and seek game, there are always some that goes through undetected. For instance, we find it particularly hard to filter password phishing emails as the form of such mails change so quickly.

Therefore we would like to take this chance to remind our customers the following when using emails or any online communication tools:

1. Always think and count from 1 to 10 before you input a password, execute a program, or consent to any unfamiliar operations.

2. Never, never open any unknown attachments from any unknown source, even if the attachment appears safe. Some attachments disguise themselves as image files and normal documents.

3. Install anti-virus software on your computer and keep it update.

4. We observed that data safety and ethical integrity of mobile apps are dropping. It is reported that some apps from the Apple App Store may also be malware. Therefore, please use only popular and credible apps to perform sensitive operations. For instance, always use your familiar browser to connect to banks.

5. Always keep a backup of your computer’s important files. Always be prepared that your computer can suddenly fail totally.

6. Rely on more than one cloud provider for your online storage of important files.

Please also note that we keep daily snapshots of our storages for three days. Please contact us if you want to try recover emails or files from snapshots of previous three days.
